I like mine to vibrate when it's in silence mode since an important call could be coming through and I might not notice it if there's no sound or motion.
A lot of people turn everything off and I think that's dangerous in emergencies. I had an idea and I wish the phone companies would add it, which is to include a dialing prefix option *911 before you call someone and it would override the silence mode on all cellphones so they ring. They could charge $5.00 when used to prevent abuse and possibly offer a reimbursement option if you can prove it was a real emergency (because who has money after something bad just happened).

I just found out that you can turn off the vibrate mode to just silent by playing with the settings. Who knew?
