My tax woes continue. To surmise: I recently received a notice from the California Franchise Tax Board which stated that they had no record of payment for my 2005 taxes. They had thus oh-so-helpfully calculated them for me, and so should pay them now, OR ELSE.

Thing was, I had paid my 2005 state taxes. I had to go to my bank for validation of this ( Read more... )

fw miscalculated his taxes a few years ago, and they informed him NOW after its tripled in fees that he needs to pay.

That's exactly what happened here. In reality I should have paid something like $500, but due to all the penalties it's now $728.

yah its totally ridiculous.he has settled for paying for it because its the cheapest route to getting it over with so far.

so if you do owe them more money... this time... when you send the check, include a picture of you writing the check and putting it in the envelope in case they decide that they need proof it was you who did it as well. perhaps also noting with apologies that you couldn't mail yourself as you don't fit in a standard sized envelope - so the photo will have to do. :-)
