Prologue: Fade to Black

August 17, 2014

Asia's #1 boy band, DongBangShinKi also known as Tohoshinki to their Japanese fans finished their Asia wide farewell tour last week at Seoul Stadium. After over a decade the wildly popular band has decided to finally take their final bow. The Farewell tour spanned for over six months, selling out stadiums all over Asia and ending here in Seoul.

The group sent shockwaves throughout the country when leader of the group, U-Know Yunho, shared a passionate kiss with his fellow band mate and lead singer Youngwoong Jaejoong directly on stage after their final bow. There is now word yet how most fans are taking it, and the two members haven't been seen since. We all know about "fan service" but this was just taking it a little too far…

November 3, 2014

Many eyewitness reports say Micky Yoochun, and Xiah Junsu of the now disbanded singing group DongBangShinKi have been seen around Seoul in various romantic situations. After the incident at their final concert between the groups leader and lead singer, it's easy to assume the those to are a couple as well. The two other members in question have been lying low from the public eye while Xiah Junsu and Micky Yoochun still work in Seoul.

As for the youngest member; Choikang Changmin. He has been reported as to have left the county, currently studying abroad. Maybe to get away from the spotlight, or his affiliation with his other bandmates…

------

"Yoochun-ah, don't forget the piano scores for the new song. We should work on it while we're there."

Junsu's packing his clothes with haste as he shouts to Yoochun still hunched over the bathroom sink, half awake and a toothbrush hanging precariously from his lips. He hears an unintelligible grunt from the other man, and Junsu shakes his head.

There are clothes everywhere, strewed across the bed, over furniture, on the floor, and he wonders if the pair of boxers hanging from the lamp shade are clean or not-- He should probably check that before he packs it. When Yoochun stumbles back into their room, his hair is still a mess and he's still wearing his pajama bottoms.

Junsu rolls his eyes. "Did you pack yet?"

"Yeah," he grumbles, "last night."

"Well then start getting ready. We have a long drive ahead of us and I told Jaejoong we'd be there before noon."

Yoochun nods before he shuffles across the room to pull his fully packed suitcase from under the bed and shoving their composition folder into the pocket on the front. "Yunho and Jaejoong have a piano at there place, right? I might cry if they don't." Yoochun says with a yawn as he pulls a shirt over his head.

Junsu shrugs with a small smile, "If not, I'm sure they have a keyboard or something. You know how Jaejoong is."

Yoochun nods again and Junsu watches as he runs his fingers through his messy hair a few times in an attempt to tame it, before giving up and pulling a beanie over his head. Life was sure easier when they had stylist, Junsu muses.

"I'll start packing the car," another yawn. "You all packed?"

Junsu nods and tosses his bag over to Yoochun, who surprisingly catches it, before picking up his own bag and heads toward the door.

"Hey, Yoochun-ah!" Junsu calls. Yoochun looks back at him from over his shoulder. "Pants are fun."

Yoochun looks confused for a moment before deciding that Junsu's crazy and he should probably do something about that sooner or later. But then as he turns to leave, he looks down. "Oh," he says intelligently.

Junsu fights back a laugh. "You should try them sometime."

Yoochun huffs before the drops their suitcases at the door and heads back into the room. He sees a pair of jeans hanging off the back of the tv so he pulls them on quickly, pointedly ignoring Junsu's choked giggles.

Once Yoochun's all zipped up, he turns back to Junsu, who's currently trying to straighten up, and wraps his arms around his waist. "You know, baby," he whispers into the shell of Junsu's ear, voice dripping with grease. "Pants are only fun sometimes." A pinch to the ass. "You should know that." And before Junsu has a chance to sucker punch him in the gut, he grabs the bags and is out the door.

Junsu shakes his head with a small smile on his face. Yoochun's already in a better mood than he's been in a while. Maybe it'll be good for him to get away from it all for a while, good for the both of them.

----

“Yunho… Yunho, wake up. The guys will be here any minute.” Jaejoong says, poking the side of the sleeping mans face repeatedly. The latter only stirs and grumbles something incoherent before turning his face away and cuddling his ‘daughter‘ to his chest. Jaejoong sighs and sits back on the bed, annoyance clearly evident on his face. Yunho hums contently in his sleep, subconsciously pulling the blankets back over his bare arms. Jaejoong gnawed at his lip in irritation. He at least thought he wouldn’t have this problem today, seeing as how they have company coming.

“Yunho!” Jaejoong shouted this time, turning the man over on his back to face him. Yunho yawns wide and unabashedly, blinking the sleep from his eyes and looking up at Jaejoong dazedly.

“Morning,” he mumbles, rubbing the sleep from his eyes with the back of his hand.

“Morning,” Jaejoong says a lot more dryly. “You do know the guys are on their way? They’ll be here any second.”

“Mhmm,” Yunho hums as his eyes fight to stay open.

Jaejoong sighs and pokes his cheek again, “Coffee?” he says.

“Coffee.” Yunho mumbles.

Jaejoong doesn’t say anything more before he rolls his eyes and get up from the bed to leave their room. He has been up for at least two hours already, making sure everything was ready for their friends arrival. As he's heading downstairs, his pocket starts to buzz. He pulls out his phone to read his message as he begins the coffee.

if we're not there in the next 20 minutes
we're probably dead. : (
-Junsu

A small smile tugged at Jaejoong’s lips as he prepared to reply to his message. It’s been months since they last saw each other, in person anyways. And Jaejoong missed them like nobody’s business. The group known as DBSK have been disbanded for almost a year, and the members were off living their own lives. Yoochun and Junsu still live together in Seoul, and are still in music. The songs they compose are widely acknowledged in sought after. But who wouldn’t want a song written and composed by the legendary Mickey Yoochun, and Xiah Junsu of Dong Bang Shin Ki?

you let Yoochun drive didn't you?
you know he's barely functional before noon
-Jaejoong

Those two, are in fact a couple now, though they try to keep a low profile as best they can since they’re still in the industry and still living in Seoul. But the tabloids have yet to leave them alone, due to the little incident the happened between Yunho and Jaejoong during the farewell tour, they’re still very much in the public eye.

those poor squirrels
they never saw us coming
be there soon, hopefully
love you
-Junsu

As for Changmin, no matter what the tabloids say, he was not avoiding them. They all knew that. They knew Changmin wanted to travel and not be bound by work to do so. The other members understood that and supported him. But once Changmin got news of what the tabloids were implying, he was immediately offended and constantly made sure to tell the other members how untrue it was whenever he got the chance.

(“You know I love you guys, right?”

“Yes. We know, Min.”

“Okay, just making sure. I don’t want you and Yoochun to start crying.”

“Right…Where are you now?”

“…Rome. I‘m leaving for Prague in a few days.”

“Send pictures!”

“I know, Hyung. Love you.”

“Love you too, Min.”)

As for Yunho and himself, they’d had no choice but to lye low for a while since the publicized kiss. They’ve rented a home in the deep country side away from all the bright lights and scrutinizing eyes. They’ve been living quietly ever since. Jaejoong would never say that he regretted Yunho’s sudden decision to kiss him that fateful night. It’s true that They had been tiptoeing around each other for years prior to that, and if that didn’t happen, they probably wouldn’t be together now. And Jaejoong did kiss back. But he will admit he does kind of miss his old life, the life he would have probably still had if that never happened.

The smell of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air of the kitchen as Jaejoong poured it into Yunho‘s favorite mug. He took a deep breathe, breathing in the steam and letting his mind wander. Suddenly he was snapped from his thoughts when he heard the loud car horn beeping outside to the tune of HUG. A huge grin split across his face and he jogged to the front door, yelling upstairs to Yunho as he slipped on his shoes and ran outside.

He was instantly greeted with Junsu’s bright smile splitting face as he ran up the path and practically into Jaejoong’s arms. Jaejoong wrapped his arms around the man tightly, knowing that he probably would have never hugged the other man this tightly before. But things have changed. Jaejoong glanced down and chuckled lightly, but Junsu’s body certainly hasn’t.

“It’s been so long, Hyung! We missed you!” Junsu whined as he pulled back. His smile still as bright and beautiful and youthful as it was when they were seventeen and trying to make it big. After so many years, Junsu’s still as energetic and happy as he’s always been and Jaejoong can’t help the warmth the spread threw his body at seeing the younger man again.

“I missed you too, Su. How was your trip here? Did you have trouble getting here?”

Junsu smiled again. “Well, you know how fail Yoochun is. If he would have just let me drive, we would have been here a lot sooner.”

“Yeah, and a whole lot more dead.” Jaejoong teased easily. He was never one to pass up the opportunity to tease the younger man.

Junsu laughed loud and clear, his eyes twinkling with mirth and making him look ten years younger. “Where’s Yunho hyung?”

Jaejoong rolled his eyes. “He’s still in bed. I tried to wake him up, but he’s getting lazy in his old age. Where’s Chun?”

“He’s struggling with the luggage at the car,” Junsu said exasperatedly. “But I’m going up to see Yunho, okay?”

“Yeah, it’s the first door to your left after you go up the stairs. And bring him his coffee, will ya? It’s on the kitchen counter.”

“Got it!” Junsu saluted as he dashed into the house, smile still planted on his face.

“Shit! Son of a--” Jaejoong finally turned around and saw Yoochun back at the car pulling suitcases out of the trunk and successfully dropping one on his foot. He smiled and shook his head fondly as he jogged over to help his friend in need. It didn’t look like Yoochun has changed much either.

“Having a little trouble?” Jaejoong asked cheekily, helping Yoochun with one of the bags. Yoochun looked up at him, shocked for a moment before his face broke out with one of those bright Yoochun-like smiles that make you want to poke him. But before Jaejoong could do that, he was practically tackled to the ground, luggage forgotten as Yoochun wrapped his arms around him in a fierce hug.

“God, I missed you.” he mumbled into his neck, and Jaejoong rolled his eyes.

“You’re not going to cry are you?”

“…Or you could say; ‘I missed you too, Yoochun.’”

Jaejoong laughed and hugged the other back tightly. They’ve always been close, it’s no doubt that he missed him. “I missed you too, Chun. Now lets get inside.”

“Please tell me you have coffee.”

“Just brewed it.” Jaejoong smiled, and received another smile in return.

“Have you talked to Min?”

“Not today.” he says as he picked up a few bags of luggage and lead the way back to the house.

“He called Junsu and said that he wouldn’t be able to get a flight out until next week.”

“That bastard ruined our heartfelt reunion. Where is he now?”

“Paris… I think. Or was that last week?”

“Whatever, we’ll just have to glomp the shit out of him when he gets here.”

They get back inside the house and drop the luggage unceremoniously by the front door. Yoochun whistles in appreciation as he looks around their home with a grin on his face. Jaejoong would admit their certainly not living humbly. With a four bedroom house, five bathrooms, and a large kitchen and living area, they were definitely living large.

“Nice place you two got here.” Yoochun says as he ambles his way into the kitchen like he’s been here a hundred times before. But Jaejoong knows he’s just following his nose for the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Jaejoong smiles and follows him, grabbing a mug from the cabinet and handing it over.

“It’s a place to lay our head.” Jaejoong says modestly, though feeling anything but. He catches the roll of Yoochun’s eyes as he proceeds to pour himself a cup.

“So, how are you and Yunho hyung doing?” Yoochun asks as he brings the coffee to his lips, eyeing his best friend over the rim of his cup. Jaejoong leans against the counter opposite him and shrugs casually. He kind of hates it the way Yoochun seems to know everything about him without telling him a thing.

“It’s fine,” he says, picking at the invisible lint on his shoulder, pretending that he’s not trying to avoid the other mans eyes.

“Fine?” Yoochun says as he takes a sip from his coffee, all the while never taking his eyes off his friend. “That didn’t sound very convincing.”

Jaejoong sighs huffily, “You know how it is, Chun. I’m still trying to get used to this… lifestyle, with him. I’m Just feeling a little restless is all. It’ll pass, it’s only been a year.”

Yoochun nodded wordlessly and looked down at his cup. “I know what you mean. Junsu’s getting a little restless too-- maybe anxious. It’s not easy for us to keep our relationship a secret from the public. It’s wearing us both a little thin. And with the disappearance of the infamous YunJae couple, they won’t leave us the hell alone.”

Jaejoong chuckled a bit and rubbed the back of his head. “Hey, you know I didn’t plan that. It was all Yunho’s doing! But I am sorry you two have to go through this now.”

“It’s alright,” Yoochun said. “We can handle it better than you can.”
