Why do you think you'll love him but not be 'in love' with him? It's not pathetic. I think you should ask him out. Maybe he's waiting for you? I spent too much time waiting for people to ask me out. Take a chance, isn't it better than waiting and wondering and pining? If he's smart he'll say yes. If he says no he better have a good reason or we (your good friends) will let him have it! =)
