On the possibility of snow.

They're predicting snow here. Originally they said today, and who knows? (not me), but at present the sun is out in a way it has not been out in a couple days (literally two).
Kevin was here recently, which was delightful for me. I went to a casino for the first time ever. It was more overwhelming than i had expected and less exciting. I mostly ( Read more... )

Makes ya wish that the casino dealers on tribal lands had as powerful unions as those in Vegas.

A few things:
snow isn't a big deal in the areas that it frequents, but it could be a bigger issue where people don't know how to handle it. There has been a fierce early-winter thing going on this year around the area here, and I've already become bored with the challenges of snow on the roads. Good luck with the one day of snow phenom you seem to be expecting.
As for smoking, parties can have outdoor areas... the casinos in South Lake Tahoe were thick with smoke when I was there at 3am on a weeknight if I remember correctly. I think the enclosed nature of a casino must make it much worse anywhere they exist.

apparently snow is about a once every couple of years thing, but no one knows how to deal with it. Additionally there are a large number of bodies of water, which means a large number of bridges that get icy really fast apparently. All rather moot for me since we don't use the car much at all and we were only there for two days after it snowed anyway.
As for a smoking ban in Nevada, though there is not one presently to the best of my knowledge, there is a movement afoot to make it so and considering the luck in Atlantic City apparently, one could think it likely. The unions just need to pressure the casinos on it. Those unions are huge and need to flex their muscle.
(BTW, you might want to check out the hilarious "NO NANNY STATE" comments after the article that seem not to notice that half of the article is about the detrimental effects on employees, not just gamers. God people in the Western states are morons -in Washington one sees even more of this foolishness.)
