corruption. amd it always ends up hurting most the people who can least afford it. I had to read a book about the 1929 flood for a class afew yuears ago and it went inot he politics of new orleans and mississipi etc, and wow! it was a real shock to me to see how business is really done:-( and then it ends up with something like that, or this-thousands of people losing homes and lives all becasue some group of rich asshats were lining their pockets and helping their friends instad of doing the right thing. I'm so sorry for everyone who lost so much, tho i guess theres not much the rest of us can do now except pray for them.
True....in a state like LA where it seems like the mean of the people have such a basic lifestyle (I'm talking about the 3/4ths+ part that isn't metropolitan or even township), money seems to talk even louder than in other places.... I mean I grew up in a place that when I go back...I never realized how dirty and poor it was...we didn't care, we had fresh air and good food...what more did we need other than a theatre to go see a movie a couple times a year maybe....We're a state who elected and reelected a man known to be so corrupt that it'd make the worst inmate blush, Edwin Edwards. Ah hell, I'm not getting in to this. LA is a great state. Kinda like Marilyn Monroe though.
yea ive read about it, it must have been amazing to grow up around tho--so many creative people come out of there, ive always wanted to visit and experience the land and the people. Hopefully it will recover from this as it did from the 1929 flood, with the immense sense of community and style that have always been the hallmark;-)corruption is rampant everywhere in the US (prolly in the world really) it just seems to get shown more often in the south for some reason
It is a very creative place and I morn the loss of the artists in the park especially...all of them really but there is much more than just the art or mystic of N.O. LA is a wonderful place....She always finds a way to make her own way so we'll just have to wait and she what she does now....
Wish I had something to say about it, but I don't know anything much about New Orleans. A city of that size will have to make a comeback in some way or another though I would think. :/
Mostly. There is some serious looting and such stuff going on around them and all through the outlying areas but they are ok. Billy's family took more property damage but we also don't know where one of his sisters is.
