Dietary question?

Ok. My doctor doesn't want me to gain any more weight during this pregnancy as she feels the baby can get any extra energy it needs from my "stores of energy". [Grr, I know I'm fat] Ok. I started reading up on weight gain expectations of OB's for obese mothers before my first appointment. I know that depending on how overweight, they expect from 0- ( Read more... )

i think when you are pregnant your metabolism freaks out. i know I gained 10 lbs right off the bat. I'm at 14 weeks and havent gained since, but it was really weird. try to walk alot, or excercize, and I guess what my friend rebecca did was only indulge in cravings once a week unless they wre healthy or calorie free :( she craved ICE and gained 25 lbs only for Maddie... but she also ate fruits when she was craving somethign sweet and stayed away from fried stuff.

it SUCKS i'm worried baout gaining too because I'm overweight :(

I walk as much as I can but the fibro makes me more achy than I probably should be. All I can do is try. I haven't had any cravings really, sometimes for salty things so I'll have some popcorn which takes care of it and is more food for the caloric expendature. Once I get my swimsuit I'll try adding that...
Thanks

No problem. Yup, ya know what I would like. Chocolate pudding. I haven't had it in years and I don't have any so I guess I'm saved from that craving.

I've been at the exercise thing for 18 days now and trying to stick to the diabetic diet plan and precious little change has happened to my body and I can't even blame a baby. :p

I swear the scale and tape measure are laughing at me during the week and trying to decide what measurement to make me go "that can't be right" over.

Kai actually started losing weight during her pregnancy, alarming all of us. Mom threatened to go to Texas and start feeding her, and she started eating. She said she just didn't feel hungry. What I can't believe is they don't have some kind of diet program? This many servings of carbs and proteins and fats (even though I tend to ignore the fat one) is what I'm on, and veggies and fruits are given in the serving sizes that equal 1 carb serving. There's no equivalant for pregnant women?

Kindra

Yup, but it is for the average woman. It doesn't give any suggestions for if you are obese except to say that while you aren't supposed to be on a diet to lose weight during pregnancy, you should try to minimize the caloric input of these foods by eating the healthiest verisions like skim milk, baked chicken and fish (the ok ones), baked potatoes (preferablly sweet potato and with skin....that sort of thing. Yeah, I know what to do and while I'm not doing the lowest fat and absolutely healthiest versions (don't like sweet potatoes), I'm also not making mac and cheese and eating tubs of pudding every night. I guess all I can do is accept my body that will only lose weight if I'm sick, not eating or eating the very strict diet and exercising like I'm 18 and just try harder...I don't know. I can only guess that I'm not doing as good as I know how to and my karma isn't good enough to take the slack.

It's nice to hear from you hon'! Take care.
