Ok, I know a lot of women wait to have showers until the last month, or closely around there, of pregnancy. However, I will be having mine at the beginning of February. This places the last month around New Years. Problem is that people won't really be able to afford gifts and I don't want any well meaning people to overspend their budgets on my ( Read more... )

You will have to remind me! Since it's in February and I'll have moved by then, I may perchance forget, as the past two months for me feels like two seconds.

I think a cute themed shower would be awesome. I would love to help throw it, but I'm so completely broke right now [gifts are no problem though XD let people worry about that themselves :)], but if there's anything small that I can do, like getting decorations or throwing around ideas with you or something, just drop me a note!

And baby's sleep in laundry baskets all the time. I think it's the most adorable idea. I think being in there wrapped up in freshly dried warm t-shirts would be like heaven. Lucky kid!

No joke huh! I think that's how some of us developed a fetish for fresh towels and sheets...I don't go nuts but I know some people who seem to loose it when the dryer goes ding! Thanks for the willingness to help hon'! If I can get it situated at a good time then I'll let you know so we can hang out and decorate beforehand. I am sad to hear that you are sharing my previous insanity with school. As much as I miss hashing out ideas and theories with everyone...I don't miss that. My grasp on reality may never be solid but at least it's not like swimming in pud'n any more. Gambatte! You can do it!!

Dryer-towels fetishes... wow, there's so much of this wonderful world I haven't yet encountered XD
Yes, school is insane, and I love that last line, but I'm almost done! Hurrah! You will have to come visit in Daytona to hang out at the beach with Kay!

Groovy! I definitely want to take Kay to the beach plenty. I think she will love it and I know I will love watching her. I wonder how old they have to be before that sorta thing is kosher??? I'll have to find out. I wouldn't want her to get swept away.

Showers are necessary sometimes and people get that. If you have friends offering to do it though, let them - they are too stressful to plan when you are pregnant!

They offered to but they procrastinate worse than I do and unfortunately with holidays and Kay's flexible due date, I kinda want to get this done while she's contented to trampoline around my insides. I plan to give them a chance but why should I bother them to do this for me when they have SO much on their plates and all I have is housekeeping? I mean it's sweet of them but it's entirely possible that they really don't have time to do this too...

technically you aren't supposed to throw your own shower, but i don't think anyone cares at this point! you could definitely throw a party for yourself! I know some people have a baby party once the baby is here (and like 6 weeks old) but its nice to have the stuff beforehand. Dblcheck with your friend to make sure she is not still planning on it! that might kick her into gear!

The shower my SIL threw was nice, there weren't any games or anything and it was mostly relatives, but it was a nice cozy environment and we opened presents, ate food and just chatted for a few hours.

also, we got a pack n play ($70), and thats what Landon will be sleeping in for the first couple of months :-p so don't feel bad :) I've read that mostly you need lots of onesies and recieving blankets but all the rest of the stuff isn't a necessity (ok car seat is) but nice to have. don't worry!

Well, what triggered my worry that they are too busy to do this too was that two emails in the last two weeks have garnered no response from any of the party hosts. They are three of my closest friends but I know that they are busy between school (nat), business trips (Deb) and an ailing hubby who is doing much better (Christina), I really think I should take over. I know they had some outlandish ideas so if they still want to do it, then fine. I will see them tonight at the Star Trek post-Turkeyday Nosh and if they still will then I plan to let them do it. I'm just antsy I guess.
