"He said: 'Write the first sentence for me in the book.'

'You want me to write it for you?'

'Yes, write it down.'

'Why?'

'You're part of the team.'

'I don't feel that. I hate teams.'

'You think about it then. There are a few of us around in the world, we rely on each other even though we don't know each other's names. But we rely on each other all the time. We're a team, we're the ones who haven't given in, who'll go on fighting. I tell you, Anna, sometimes I pick up a book and I say: Well, so you've written it first, have you? Good for you. O.K., then I won't have to write it.' "

I love notebooks.

I really wish that I had a scanner, cos I got a watercolor pad and watercolor pencils over the weekend, and I've been doing all these little miniature character sketches that I'd love to share with the rest of you.

what are watercolor pencils like? How do you use 'em?

You use them like regular pencils, but you can go in with a wet brush and smudge them out and soften them if you want. The lead is water soluble, like watercolor paint.
