calm, and then more calm

Last night, I was sitting on the steps talking on the phone with my sister and watching a homeless cat chase moths in the yard. It was about 70 degrees. I kept thinking about how it was supposed to get cooler later at night, and to rain. The wind was starting to pick up. I didn't want to go inside, in case today turned out inexplicably cold again. I hope everything stays feeling calm. That's the way it is here, too. And crazy me, it makes me a bit nervous to not be nervous. The weather here is snow and rain and cold, with occasionally a ray of sunshine. It's supposed to start warming up again tomorrow around here.

We have cold wind, but it's like it's just joking. The sun is strong and warm, and I had to take off my hat and scarf while walking home. The wind is definitely icy, and the air is icy, but it's now suddenly an April cold instead of a March cold. The sun has just arrived and just hasn't straightened things out yet. It actually feels like if it were summertime and you got to cool off with a nice blast of outdoor air conditioning. And it's supposed to be warmer again tomorrow.

It was sunny and 90 here on Monday, but we knew the storms were coming. I got my walk done by about 2am, and the storm came at about three. Lasted the whole rest of the night. I left the windows open, and the wind whipped through the apartment, opening and closing doors, scaring the cat. Yesterday the storms were mostly past, but they'd driven the temperature back down to sixty when I woke. It felt colder, and I wore a sweatshirt and hat to walk to the bank. Today, though, it's warm and sunny again. Very nice indeed, and all the windows are still open. I love April.

I love it too. It's warm and windy tonight. I have felt strangely good all week.
