To say on the news that people are marching "in support of traditional marriage," when what they are actually doing is opposing the marriages of same-sex couples, gives undue support to what they are doing. You can say they claim to be marching in support of traditional marriage. Because they do claim that, so that would be a true and factual thing ( Read more... )

"Traditional marriage" also sounds like they are in support of women not working outside of the home, being valued only for child care, baby care, and housework. I also think of terms like "man as the head of the household" when I hear phrases like "traditional marriage." Of course, people opposed to gay marriage may in fact also be opposed to women having careers. I don't know.
