“Dude, I can’t believe you let that go.”

Finn glanced up in the direction Puck was staring and sighed.  “I had to.”

“Why?  Because of your reputation?”

“I was dating Rachel,” Finn insisted, hoisting his book bag onto his shoulder.

“Whatever.  How’re things going with him and Mr. Prep-School?”

“Not so well, the way he’s been moping at home this week.”

Puck started down the hall towards the exit.  “Really?  Any idea why?”

Finn shrugged.  “I think it has to do with Kurt being here and Blaine at college in New York.”

“Ooh.  Long distance.  That’ll be easy to break up.”

Finn stopped.  “What?  Break up?”

“Well, duh,” Puck said, turning to look at him.  “You missed your chance on that piece of ass, so I’m gonna make a move.  He’ll forget all about Blake Whatsisface Gurgler when I’m done seducing him.”

“That’s my brother you’re talking about!”

Puck rolled his eyes.  “Step-brother, Finn.  That’s what makes this almost socially acceptable.”

“Huh?”

“Look, we’re seniors now.  Who the fuck cares what the idiots here think?  We’re both single, he’ll be single soon, and he’s hot.  I don’t know about you, but I’m going for it.”

“Wait.  Are you suggesting we both go after him?”

“Why not?  You’ve got the advantage here; you’ve already been a major crush for him.  He’ll crumble to you.”

“Are you sure?”

“I don’t know!  Do I look like a mind-reader, Hudson?  To be honest, Kurt is just as confusing as any girl, but what I do know is that he won’t get out of my dreams and I want him.  Do you want a piece or not?”

Finn stared at Puck for a moment, thinking over the way Kurt had been lately.  He really did have a fantastic ass and he didn’t talk to Finn like he was a complete moron.  At least not all the time.

“I…  We’re not gonna treat him like crap, right?  I mean, we can’t let him think we want more than we do.”

“I don’t know about you, but I’m looking for everything, dude.”

“No, I didn’t mean-Puck, he’s got a relationship now and if we aren’t looking for that, we shouldn’t let him think we are.”

“Okay.  Are you?”

“No!”  Maybe?  Kurt was always trying so hard to cover up how much being away from Blaine was hurting him.  Not to mention how upset he would get sometimes after talking with Blaine.  Finn had heard enough one-sided conversations to know that the guy wasn’t quite treating Kurt right.  He deserved more than that.  But Finn didn’t know if he or Puck or he and Puck could be that more for him.

Puck raised an eyebrow like he could see Finn’s thoughts on his face.  “You sure?”

“About what?”

“What you just said.  Blaine’s no good for him?”

“Shit!  I said that out loud?”

“Yeah,” Puck chuckled.  “You’ve really got to get a handle on your mouth.”

“Well, what about you?”

Puck looked away, down the hall.  No one was there, but he still took a long moment to adjust his bag before answering.  “I don’t know.  Not right away.  Right now, it’s like he’s a song stuck in my head and I’ve got to have him to get it out of my system, you know?  And I really haven’t gotten as close to him as you have.  I don’t know him enough to make that call yet.  But maybe eventually?”

“Well…  Kurt’s not going to go for it while he’s with Blaine.  So let’s start with you coming over for dinner and video games.  We can drag him into it and we can talk.  He can’t keep from talking when we’re playing.  It’s his distraction technique.”

“Yeah, okay.  Tonight okay?”

“Sure.”  Finn pulled his phone from his pocket and glanced at it.  “Fuck, he’s waiting for me,” he said as he started walking again.  Puck followed.

“Oh yeah, carpooling.  How’s that going?”

“Fine.  We take turns driving.  It was his turn today.”

“Maybe my truck could have an unfortunate accident and I’d need a lift tomorrow…”

“Then you could take it to Burt’s shop.  Kurt works there.”

“Really?”  Puck was grinning as they headed towards the doors.

“Really.  He fixed my truck twice over the summer.  I only broke it on purpose once.”

“Awesome.”

“What?” Finn asked at the dopey look on Puck’s face.

“Just picturing the prim diva in coveralls and grease.”

Finn snorted.  “Yeah.  It’s probably hotter than you’re imagining.”

Puck shoved him through the doors, laughing.
