Our new house is in a street of Georgian houses on a hill.  It’s in a conservation area so it has to be kept just so.

Sky dishes and cable boxes and the like require planning permission before they can be installed.  There are no front gardens and the council has decreed that we cannot have wheelie bins as they would have to stored outside the ( Read more... )

Yes I remember that hope well in 1997 and the disappointment that kicked in!!! I think Obama is much more intelligent than Blair and will deliver and fight hard for what he believes in!

Let's face it Obama reached out to people who had never voted and insprired them to believe in his vision .... I really wish we had someone as inspiring in UK politics and that's as a semi-insider!!!!

That second prayer is beautiful and wonderful. Amen to that!

Both prayers suited the occasion where they were prayed. I love Robinson’s prayer but also really like Warren’s. A friend pointed out that Kennedy drunk made more sense on Iraq than Blair sober. That said, however much I disagree with that particular decision, I do support the troops out there wholeheartedly. It’s not their fault they’re lions led by donkeys yet again. (This may make me look like the Mistress of Double Think and I don’t give a stuff).

Gah, don’t get me started … It takes real something to make Thatcher look “harmless” … And they are probably one of the most authoritarian governments we’ve ever had - as well as one of the most immoral and corrupt. I’m astonished at some of the stuff they’ve done. (Not in a good way).

Dunno who I’m going to vote for when the next election comes. None of the major parties looks particularly appealing. (But I have every intention of voting for someone). I reckon the Tories will get in - more as a way of getting Labour out than a desire to have them back.
