Most atheist I know worry far more than most Christians I know.
They worry about the state of the planet (and will we completely destroy our ecosystem before we figure out how to leave to another planet), the state of war (will humanity destory itself in a nuclear holocaust), and the state of the economy (who does an atheist pay tithing to?).
As a Christian, I don't have to worry about those sorts of things and I find that liberating.
As for the "Oh no, if you set one foot wrong you'll be going to hell" stereotype the atheist bus sign seems to be based on, my particular flavour of Christianity doesn't believe that a few misdeeds will lead one to be damned; it's pretty difficult to earn a one-way ticket to hell.
I worry. My interpretation of the comment in Genesis is that mankind was given dominion over the earth in order to take care of it. And, imo, we haven't done a very good job. :( When Jesus comes again, one of the things that he's meant to do is restore the earth. But I don't think that means that we're not supposed to do our bit to help out. (I am deliberately being quite board brush about this! There's reams and reams of stuff about it!)
I'm the same as you, I want my daughter - and her descendants if she has any - to have a safe and clean place to live.
