It's a shame no-one told the adoptive mum that attempting to breastfeed an 18mo who'd not nursed for a long time (if ever) wasn't likely to work, but giving milk on the spoon was nice.

The 7yo was a good way to show that even very extended breastfeeding stops on its own - having seen how she stopped (i.e. because her mouth slowly forgot what to do) has made me less worried about weaning YoungBloke.

Let me guess, was it the chap who talked about paedofiddlia?

I rather liked Sam Wollaston's review in the Guardian - "it was called 'Extraordinary Breastfeeding' and I kept waiting for the extraordinary".

I was still giving K morning and late night feeds right up until she was 3 years old. She stopped of her own accord when I told her I was pregnant again. She said "You'd better save it for the new baby." *g*

D wasn't at all interested in breastfeeding from the start. Well, he couldn't see what was going on around him while feeding, so he kept stopping to look around - he was able to hold his head up and look around for a few seconds within hours of birth. By the time he was 3 months it was getting to be a bit of a farce and taking well over an hour for a single feed, so we switched to bottlefeeds (approx half were expressed breast milk and the rest were formula).

I was really interested in the program, but then I was silly enough to go and talk about it in #afp.. I won't be making that mistake again :(

I'm afraid that *before* it came on we had a long discussion on breastfeeding in #afp already, so perhaps I'd bored them all with it as a topic?

What was said?
