He knows he's been pushing boundaries with Tim. So really, waiting for the teen to open the door seems like too little, too late. But at this point, he has use what little he can to rebuild their damaged relationship.

It was never about making the boys hug it out or anything like that. He was then, as he is now, trying to explain how much Tim means to him. But for some reason, whenever he tries, it doesn't come out right. Maybe he should just stop trying?
Bruce wants to wait, to have Tim's action to that. To have something. But he's turning, heading for the door. Better to give the boy space and a chance to absorb the words rather then force the issue.
