Thank you! I appreciate the sympathy. I am just glad I hadn't bought a bunch of the dog food which was also contaminated. So our Misty Girl is ok.

I'm so sorry sweetie. I'm so happy I don't feed my boys (indoor) wet food. We feed the outdoor ones wet, but i don't even know what brand it is.... I have to find out.

Hey girl, if the wet food is a store brand, like Special Kitty from Walmart then you should check the website I listed for all the brands and which ones had the contamination. What gets me, I have a bunch of Purina that I started buying recently and now I have no cats to feed. Not sure what to do with the food.

It's weird, but what I have doesn't have labels. Um, but it's not pouch/gravy style.

Oh, and it's not just store-brand - it's also Iams, Science Diet, Nutro Max - serious high end brands.

Well, you could always donate them to an animal shelter. They can always use more food.

Have you heard anything about the two that were taken to the vets by Animal Control?

No I haven't. I am scared to call and find out they didn't make it. Monkey Boy wasn't as sick as the smaller ones. But, he scratched me when trying to get him in the cage. I fear they put him down just to find out if he had rabies or not. And Yoda was so far gone I doubt they could save him. And when all was said and done he was my favorite of the younger litter. He had the most personality.

I just wish I could have found out sooner and could have saved them all. It's heartbreaking to lose them so needlessly.

{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}} You did your best to help!! It's just so awful. We feed ours the dry food made by the same company. It could just as easily been our little guys/girls. :( How they could ship all that food out without decent quality control frightens the heck out of me. HUGS & PRAYERS for everyone touched by this.

UPDATE.... I did get a call from the Animal Control that Monkey Boy did survive. He is at the shelter ready for adoption. So at least one of my babies made it. And I think I know why. He would let the little ones eat first, getting most of the wet food. Then he would come down off his perch where he guarded them from and would eat his food. Meaning he ate mostly dry. I think that alone saved him from dying like the others. Who knew a Male cat could behave in such an almost Maternal Fashion. But I am glad of it. I hope he gets a wonderful home with a momma who spoils him the way he deserves.
