Halloween is my bday!

I agree - seems foolish to be doing it on a holiday eve and not taking account of said holiday. I'm not saying I want them to dress up in elf or santa costumes but it just feels stupid.

I think it is a little selfish for them to plan it for Christmas Eve. I would think that if they're not having a wedding or aything official you shouldn't be obligated to go to the pub on Christmas Eve...or you could make a cameo and show up for about an hour? I dunno, just some ideas.

tx for this - totally agree. I don't think it will last that long - but the rankling thing is, it's an hour's drive away! So our Xmess Eve will consist of getting in the car, driving an hour, going to a 15 minute ceremony (that's about how long a registry service is here, like a civil ceremony in the US), going to a pub for an hour or so, then driving back another hour.

i would definitely feel the same way. pick a day that can be totally yours. not only does it foil everyones holiday plans, but whos gonna ever remember their anniversary amist all the chaos?

yes, its their wedding. yes, its very special. but it does seem selfish to make everyone spend xmas eve in a pub (where they cant bring their children). its not fair to make people choose between attending a close family members wedding or wanting to stick with tradition/previously decided upon plans.

my boyfriend, who really could care less about holidays wouldnt think it was a big deal at all, im sure. im the one who gets all "festive" and forces him to get into it. he loves it in the end though.

thank you for succinctly stating the points I knew were in my head. The more people I tell, the more agreement I'm getting that nobody GETS what their deal is.

Hrmph.
