This morning I stumbled across this:
14 lies to stop telling your children I thought it was going to be serious parenting advice, but it's actually quite funny! There are some interesting points hidden in there about the things we say to our kids without even thinking though.

I found it because another blog I read links to interesting parenting things around the web each week.

The other week one of the dads at school was telling his son if he didn't behave today at school he'd go see Mrs E, who is the acting director of Kurrajong ELC - Yr 2 and this is in T's class so the kid is 5. Anyhow, he walked out of the room, saying "remember, you don't want to go visit Mrs E, do you". I laughed and looked at the class teacher and I said "well, lets hope AC never gets Mrs E for a class teacher. She looked at me and said "I am always telling parents to not say things like Behave or Mrs G will get cross at you", she being Mrs G. She says she really doesn't like it when the kids are scared of her...it makes it hard to teach them.
I've never said anything like this to either of my kids, but it seems to be an easy cop out that parents say.
Really though, do kids look at the whole Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy thing in THAT much detail - breaking into your house, being 7 foot etc. NO they just think wow....it's this occasion....I'm bound to get something out of it - LOL!
