For the Grey's Anatomy AU Comment Fic-a-thon:
safertohateher wanted, "Meredith is a vampire slayer. Cristina is her brainy sidekick, Alex is the extra muscle, Izzie is the hot blonde they use as bait, George is their moral compass and Bailey is Meredith's watcher. Throw in an evil dead army with a plan to kill the slayer (led by the vampire they call McDreamy) and an ensouled vampire who can't help but help Meredith fight them off (semi-ironically referred to as Satan) and what do you have? One crazy ass apocalypse, bitch."
Apologies to everyone. I know nothing about vampires. Clearly.

Of course it’s a trap. One they should’ve been able to spot given Cristina’s intel and Izzie’s strangely developed spidey sense. Meredith will take the blame. For Shepherd trapping Izzie, for Cristina’s broken ankle, Alex’s black eye and for Viper, currently eyeing Meredith’s neck like he’s hungry. She should’ve killed Viper when she had the chance, but she’s still wary of staking a former patient. As if being an intern isn’t hard enough-she has to juggle the slayer thing too.
“How did he get to you?” Meredith says, struggling against Viper’s hold.
Viper curls his lip. “Concussion. He was my doc,” he says.
That explains where Shepherd’s been recruiting. “I’m sorry,” Meredith says, because she thinks like a doctor first. Always.
“Don’t be darlin’,” And Viper leans in, his breath on her chin, then his lips on her pulse.
Until he’s knocked back, crashing to the ground, Addison looming over him, her shoe to his throat “You ok?” she asks, offering Meredith a hand.
“Ambush,” Meredith says, taking her hand and getting to her feet. She’s got questions, like why the hell Addison’s swooping in like an avenging angel, but it can wait. She makes it quick, stabbing the stake in. Goodbye, Viper.
Meredith rolls her shoulders. “Save me once, it’s a fluke. Twice, it’s starting to look like a habit. A habit your husband might not appreciate,” she says.
Addison says, “Not my husband,” and frowns at the gash on Meredith’s cheekbone. “You need stitches,” she says.
“Crap,” Meredith says, her fingers going to her cheek. “I’m bleeding.” Which is a stupid, obvious thing, but Addison is a vampire, despite the business of having a soul. Blood in the water is what she thinks, a little hysterical imagining Addison as a shark.
“Relax,” Addison says, and Meredith does, in spite of her thundering pulse. Then Meredith’s taking the stairs by two, hoping Shepherd hasn’t eaten her friends.
“My consult was fake,” Addison says, and her eyes flash golden for a split second, then back to ice blue.
“Owen?” Meredith asks.
Addison nods. “I can’t prove it, though.”
“Doesn’t matter,” Meredith says. She’s running as soon as she sees Cristina.
“I’m fine,” Cristina says. “A scalpel’s not all I can handle.” But she’s limping, so it can’t all be fine. “What’s Satan doing here?”
Addison smiles. “Good to see you too, Yang.”
“She saved my ass,” Meredith says. “Alex and Izzie?”
“They’re safe,” Cristina says.
The morgue isn’t exactly what Meredith would call safe. Still, she can hear Alex and Izzie arguing beyond the door.
”-are you complaining? At least you weren’t a McDreamy snack!” Izzie is apparently not ok being vamp bait.
“Babe, you’re so much more than a snack," Alex says.
With Bailey guarding the door, they’ve bought a little time. “What is wrong with you?” Bailey asks, and Meredith assumes that’s for her, but the look on Bailey’s face suggests she might be talking to all three of them. Bailey fixes her stare on Addison. “I’m going to assume that if you were working for Shepherd, you’d take a more direct approach, and we’d be dead already,” she says.
Addison nods, and Bailey lets them pass inside muttering, “Impulsive interns, blood sucking attendings, and-O’Malley!”
“Yes ma’am?” George nearly trips over Izzie to answer.
“Where are we on the safe house?”
“Joe said he’d get back to me,” but at Bailey’s stare he says, “I’ll call him now.”
“Good. Grey, it hurts to look at you,” Bailey says and tosses a suture kit to Meredith, who looks at Alex.
“Fine,” he says. “Why is the SheShepherd here? Again?”
“Karev, if I wanted to hurt you, you’d know.” Addison takes the kit from Alex and puts on gloves. “Plastics is hardly my specialty, but I’ll make sure there’s no scar,” she says to Meredith.
“Mere, you’re the slayer. She’s a vampire. Even leaving Shepherd out of it-“
“He’s going to kill me unless I get to him first,” Meredith says, and it’s Addison she’s talking to. “I’m ok with that. Are you?”
“I won’t let him hurt you,” Addison says, which is surprising despite all of Addison’s help.
“Why?” Meredith asks, a knee jerk question courtesy of Ellis Grey.
“Because she likes you! She has inappropriate, irresponsible feelings for you, and those feelings kept you breathing. Say thank you.” Bailey huffs.
Meredith blushes, and hopes she’s saying thank you silently. Or being swallowed into the floor. Whatever.
“So turning McDreamy to dust is ok with you?” Cristina asks Addison.
“I didn’t come to Seattle to get Derek back. I hoped I could,” Addison pauses to swab Meredith’s cheek before numbing it, and meets her eyes. “I wanted to help,” she says.
Cristina smirks. “That’s what you get for having a soul.”
Meredith’s been chosen; she has to stick it out. But Addison? “You could go. Richard would let you out of your contract.”
“Do you want me to go?” Addison asks, eyes down on her work, hands steady.
Meredith’s stomach drops, “No.” She stops Addison’s hands, leans in, and kisses Addison quick and soft. “Stay.”
