I admit, I've done nothing more than read the (biased) above synopsis and I have my own biases.

The quote: "Please help keep natural hormone therapies legal. We shouldn't have to use synthetic, non-identical hormones just because it makes someone rich!"

Really pisses me off. The conflation of 'natural' and 'good' versus 'synthetic' and 'bad' is not okay. Just because something is natural doesn't make it good or better than synthetic, especially when it comes to pharmacueticals. Arsenic is natural and I think we can all agree that is bad. For a more realistic comparison Willow Bark as headache relief (i.e. salicylic acid) is natural, but Asprin (acetylsalicylic) is a synthetic modified version of the natural that is more effective AND safer to use (less stomach problems, etc.).

Specifically regarding Bio-identical hormone replacement, they are synthetic (The term "bioidentical" denotes hormones that are chemically synthesized so as to be identical to the endogenous hormones of the human body) in that they are created in a lab ( ... )

And clearly I did read more than the synopsis, but none from the call to action site. All other reading was on Wikipedia as relatively unbiased source.

Testosterone is "bio-identical" in exactly the same way as these therapies are. Testosterone is subject to fairly stringent controls for good reasons. Meanwhile, it *is* possible to patent techniques for synthesizing "natural" hormones; so if there's anything to this product, there's something patentable.
