Yes and no. Point in case: my parents. My mom is EXTREMELY independent, which my dad likes most of the time because he works a lot and doesn't want a woman constantly calling him or bothering him at work or who resents him for not being there. But he also wants her to be around when he has time for here, and my mom isn't always because she is very independent. So most of the time her being independent is good, but other times it causes problems. Like he comes home late so she goes off to see a movie with us. And then he's like well crap. Or she wants to go on a cruise, he doesn't, so she just goes with one of us. (us being her daughters).

Depends on what you mean by "sense of independence." If you mean a healthy dose of self-confidence, high self-esteem, and being driven because you have challenging goals---then the answer is no, it's not off-putting to any guy that's interested in a serious relationship. Because those qualities are sexy and good for a relationship. Any guy who goes running from these qualities is looking for easy play, and/or a fling that won't last ( ... )

It was just a question that my friend and I were musing over the other day. Basically we were wondering why I didn't have a boy friend, yata yata. So I decided to put it out there. I was just curious as to what people thought on the matter. But no, it really doesn't pertain much to me....unless you think getting mad at a guy for opening the...ahh, never mind. :) But thanks for the answer. :)

I'm assuming that, when you say "a strong sense of independence" that you mean goal-oriented and self-sufficient. If that is the case, then no, I don't find it off-putting at all. Quite the contrary, I find it to be necessary for our time ( ... )
