Is it paranoid of me to think that my bosses are trying to give me praise so that they don't have to give me more money?

I still think I deserve a raise... doesn't that mean its time to move on?

So you asked for a raise and they turned you down?

yeah, and now they keep giving me and the other IT guy lots of praise... shit like "you guys are doing a great job, everyone is really happy with your customer service. keep up the good work."

Which, i think, they should be showing that gratitude in a monetary fashion, rather than a pat on the back.

I think that if you are underpaid for what you do, and to top it off you are doing a good job at what you do, they are stupid to not give you more money, because it does mean you should (and probably will) leave.

Although they say people don't leave companies, they leave people (their bosses and coworkers) and maybe they're subscribing to this thought with a hope that some praise will make you more loyal?
