it means we can dump money and weapons into the conflict w/o looking bad cause it isn't "us" there, its just our money.

Except that any self-respecting Palestinian knows that the Israelis are funded by the US. And wouldn't you rather be fooling the "enemy" than fooling the American people?

Also, "dissolving the palestinian gov't" should be more like "dissolving the palestinian parliament," which, i just learned in poli-sci 101, is something the president can do in a hybrid-parliamentary system.

What disturbs me more, (from this BBC article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6756079.stm), is that in-fighting has now split Gaza and the West Bank. if they can't get it together, the palestinians will never get a country of their own. That's what saddens me. :(

Yeah, everyone knows we pay for Israel to have all of the guns it does, but it still doesn't look as bad for us cause we aren't pulling the triggers. Which is dumb, because we might as well be.

Still, its he declared a state of emergency and gets to appoint a new parliament and a new prime minister. That is fucked.

You are right about the splitting up for Gaza and the West Bank, They will have even less centralization, more conflict and be take less and less seriously every-time something like this happens. I would say They need to fix it ASAP, but I think it might already be too late.

I move back and forth on the fence. I strongly believe that the Palestinians deserve a homeland, but I also am starting to see that they would have no way of running it.
