Title: Something (Strangely) New
Word Count: 371
Pairing: Chuck Bass/Rory Gilmore, Jess Mariano/Blair Waldorf

Summary: Plus, what did one do in this town at night for fun, anyway?
Spoilers: Kinda fits in anywhere and everywhere in both fandoms.

“Stars Hollow?” Blair murmurs under her breath as she waits for her coffee at the counter. She looks around the dingy diner (God, she can’t believe she’s here, she really hates Chuck Bass’s guts right now) and screws her face in disgust. Her plum colored Manalos are totally wasted on these people. “More like Hell’s Hollow.”

Jess hears the brunette’s muttering as he rings up her total and smirks. “I take it you and your friend are just passing through?”

Blair looks at the Dan Humphrey wannabe (God help you if you want to be Dan Humphrey) and is startled by the question. “Chuck Bass is not my friend.”

“Good to know,” James Dean answers as he hands her the cup of coffee. “Do you want to catch a movie with me tonight?”

Surprised, she sputters, “You have a multiplex in this town?”

He grins, leans over the counter so she can smell his unique scent - cigarettes, aftershave and grease. She thinks she’s crazy, there’s no way the smell of grease is turning her on. “They’re playing Breakfast at Tiffany’s in Miss Patty’s Dance Studio.”

Somehow, he doesn’t strike her as a Hepburn fan. She chews her lower lip and thinks; Chuck’s going out with Rory. We said we’d try being friends. Plus, what did one do in this town at night for fun, anyway? Hoping not to sound over-eager, she replies, “I have no idea what you just said.”

He chuckles, the sounds makes her feel lightheaded. “Which room is yours?”

“Huh?”

“You’re staying at the Dragonfly, right?” When she looks at him dubiously, he explains. “Lorelai’s my aunt.”

“How cosy,” Blair murmurs, thinking her hostess never mentioned anything about having a hot nephew? “I’m in room 4.”

“See you at eight then.”

She smiles a little and then turns to find Rory and Chuck walking towards the diner, her ex saying something undoubtedly smarmy so that the brunette rolls her and eyes and shoves him away. A small, almost sad smile touches her lips. “At eight,” she agrees.

When Chuck and his new girl Friday enter the diner, the chimes clanging, Blair meets his eyes, holds them for a moment too long and wonders if this is moving on.
