see, here's my thing: if she'd just left it there and not said anything, you might have easily attributed the papers to any one of the skanky car salesmen you work with, or possibly even a customer that left it behind. she screwed herself pretty well when she did that. so therefore, my verdict is: she set herslf up and must now pay the price. leave it laying around for a car salesman to find and ask you about. maybe on the very top of a trashcan they'll look into. then at least you can claim you threw it out and didn't go telling everyone. but what could you do when someone came and asked what it was *innocent eyelash flutter*?...
