My Life Is So Awful...

Sep 01, 2007 13:02

I woke up this morning to one of my favorite movies--Frankie and Johnny . I love this movie because I can relate to it sooo much. So much so that I should have been in that movie.

And this one particular part got to me. It really struck a nerve with me. Michelle Pfiffer and Al Pacino were in her apartment and she tried to kick him out. He calmed her ( Read more... )

I thought you meant the Elvis Presley/Donna Douglas movie. That one is one of my favourites, too.

I've never heard of the version of "Frankie and Johnny" that you referenced.

And it's really striking when a movie reaches out and touches your heart and describes you to a T. It's happened to me several times.

You've gotta check it out. It stars Michelle Pfiffer and Al Pacino. It came out in 1991. It's a really good movie. Every time Frankie felt some type of emotion, I felt the same exact way. And every time she came to some sort of obstacle, I could relate, because I've been there, too.

And Elvis did one? Wow, I never knew that.

Yup!

"Frankie and Johnny were lovers
Oh Lordy, how they could love"

It takes place in the Old West, and it's a bunch of performers. Frankie and Johnny were acting out their story onstage...

"He was her man
and he done her wrong"

It's about a fictional origin behind a real folk song.

At the end of the movie, Frankie SHOOTS Johnny.

"Frankie, I beg you don't do this!
They'll put you away in a cell!
They'll put you where the cold wind blows
From the hottest part of hell!"
"Johnny, you were my man...
But you done me wrong."

See, in the act they're doing, she is supposed to shoot him at that point. But Johnny owes money to a man for gambling debts, and the man's cronies switch the blanks for real bullets and she REALLY shoots him.

As for what happens then -- well... *grin* Let's just say he's okay and it's by the Theodore Roosevelt method of surviving bullet attacks.

WOWZERS! I wanna see it now! lol That's what they were saying the modern version. Only they were like "isn't that a song?" "don't they kill each other at the end?" And Johnny's convinced that he and Johnny should be together because of that song...and the many coincidences that they have hahahaha

Hey I know the feeling too... movies can do that to you... there are some writers that can capture exactly what we are feeling or going through at that moment... it's the different scenarios of life.

I usually cry at movies lol I'm pathetic but it's because I really get into the movie... same thing when I read stories... I get lost into that world and know exactly how the characters feel and see.

Not a pointless entry my dear... I was going to post one myself lol. Love you! *hugs* Don't cry my dear... I love you and will always be here for you! :) :) :)

You know something?? I find myself crying at movies that I never would cry at before! Is that a sign of me growing up or me becoming more girly?? lol And thanks for not thinking this entry crappy and pointless. *hugs* I love you too!

Maybe just you listening more, opening up and connecting more to the story... that's what I think anyway :)
