I'm ashamed to say I'm making brownies out of a box mix. But I can only defend it by saying, the girls picked it out, did most of the mixing & sprayed the pan w/spray on oil & then floured it. Athena's first try with a spray can, I think she may have a streak of graffiti artist in her: she giggled with delight. Ha.

there is something special and familiar and good about box brownie mix that I'm sure is not true about any other boxed dessert mix.

Never be ashamed of box brownies. They are good! We just made some on Christmas Eve with the Emery's. We did get them free with purchase of a cake mix, but so what!

And besides, they are a lot less bother than scratch brownies.
