Note to self (and f-list)

Don't stay up until 1:30 am reading fanfic when you have to go to work the next day.  Especially when it's Masques, the longest fic on the archive, and you aren't going to finish it that night anyway!

I feel like someone drained all my blood and piped my veins full of molasses.  And now it's time to work.  Blah.

all my important nothings, supes

:) Boy do I know the feeling! I was up until 1:30 *writing* a fic that I didn't manage to finish (but was planning to... it's Lois' fault, she babbles too much!) and I'm traveling today - but not driving, which means I'll be the world's most horrible passenger and I'll be sleeping half the way there, I just *know* it. She's so going to hate me.

BTW - I saw your PM and I will answer.. half my mind is gone right now, I've been like a dog running after its tail for the last 2 days. I hope he finds it soon. *lol*

1:30? Pfft. Amateur! (Well, unless you had to be up at some godawful hour like this "five a.m." that I hear people talking about. *g*) I've had nights of practically no sleep. Kaylle's In Dreams... I think I got two hours of sleep the night I stayed up to finish couldn't put it down and spent 5 hours finishing it. *g*

I hope your day at work isn't too rough. :(

Sounds like you liked it! I'll that one on my to-read list. And I did make it through the day, thanks :) - luckily my job doesn't involve anything like sharp knives or I probably would have lost a few digits!

Well, I came in here just to say that I love your icon, Elisabeth, but I'll say thank you to Sara too :) Glad you enjoyed, Sara, and sorry I cost you your sleep!

And yes, Masques is definitely not the sort of story you start reading late in the day {g}. I read it as it was being posted, so I saw it in little pieces, but I've reread it once or twice and it does take forever!

Ahem. Well. Actually... (blushes). That's sort of what happened to me last night. Round about midnight when I was only halfway through the story I decided I'd better go the bed, but the tension was so sharp, I couldn't stand it... so I zoomed down the page to read the end. But of course it didn't really make much sense, so I went back up and started scanning the story, just to get the highlights. Because I had to go to bed, of course, I had no time to actually read it like I had the first half! And that took another 90 minutes. Obviously I missed quite a lot of detail in the second half, which I am sure was not how LabRat intended for her story to be read, but I absolutely could not go to bed without knowing how the heck Lois got out of the Citadel. And now at some point I have to go back and read the second half for real. Only now I know what happens so half the fun is gone!

Yeah, Masques is like a weekend activity. I read it straight through a couple of summers ago, but I also stayed up all night because my dog was recovering from surgery and needed to be watched. I have a bad habit of skimming through introspection, but I still think I read the majority of it in about 8 hours.

I have a bad habit of skimming through introspection Me, too. I just have a hard time concentrating on it. Makes you think that I would learn not to write that way myself but so far that lesson hasn't stuck. :)

Been there. Done that. Passed out in social studies class.
Funny you should mention that, since for the first time in several months, I was up reading fanfic til...well, actually I never slept last night, did I? It just seemed easier to keep reading till the words danced on the monitor and my alarm went off.
Bleh. Sleep, who needs it?
I love how Lois is characterized in Masques. all the qualities I love in her come out most strongly in that fic. I think it was worth every bite!
Ha! Try reading Raconteur's Longest Road-the roads they walked alone, in one go!
Important factor in pulling an all-nighter in fanfic: Don't drink coffee. Else, come daylight, you're going to feel like you're at at a disco night with one too many stiff martinis on your pate.
