Afraid of the Flu

I keep trying to forget that the swine flu is circulating. Three people on my Friends List on Facebook are recovering from it (a flu, not necessarily THE flu, but really how many flu's are around right now?) The parenting community is loaded with moms asking how to take care of their kids when they are so sick. And even though I'm still healthy

The thing for me is that (I should mention, I'm a nurse by training) the media focuses on all the negative, all the people dying. When in fact, you have a greater chance of committing suicide and killing yourself than you do if dying from the swine flu. Instead, the media should focus on proper handwashing and stuff like that. It was going on around here too, but i don't know anyone that got it. Schools were closing around us. I did get some other virus, but not the swine flu, as there was no fever
