Currently: Green Day's most recent, award-winning album is entitled American Idiot, and is quite political. Additionally, check out "Wake Up" off of DMB's latest album, the newest Rolling Stones album, and the newest NIN album. NIN actually refused to appear on the MTV Music Awards because the song they wanted to perform involved an image of Dubya appearing on a screen behind them, and MTV balked on it. U2 doesn't necessarily involve political statements in their music, but they're very politically active. Finally, John Fogerty's "Deja Vu (All Over Again)" or something like that is a commentary, essentially on the war in Iraq. It's not completely clear, but I'd venture to say that the lyrics are attempting to parallel the current situation with Vietnam.
Whee!
