Oh honey! I'm so sorry to hear about both of your family's losses! I'll keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers! And it's very sad that your grandmother wasted her life - and love - away, but your girls can take that as a lesson on how not to spend their lives. And I hope that your mom takes advantage of her freedom and does some things for herself because it sounds like she needs to think of herself for a while!
Your girls are, of course, all so beautiful (and Trin is hilarious, with her 'I'm-to-old-for-such-rubbish' look! *giggle*)
I really understand. I also have no grandparents left after my final one passed away last year (the one I bust a gut caring for). My other grandparents were very much like yours, after my dad passed away they cut us totally out of their lives and we found out about one of their deaths in the newspaper, the other passed 5 years ago (and I found out about it online when a long lost cousin got in touch). The reminder to hug is very important, my mum is terminally ill and only 55 years old, she is the only person left in that generation for me...my family (which was once massive) is now just me, my brother sister, mum and my sister's three kids...scary.
Sorry about your grandmother, and awful as it is, I really do understand the whole "no one visited thing" I was in very much the same with granny towards the end.
