although "Hallelujah I'm a Bum" is also critically underappreciated

Hooray home.

(Although I did notice you guys warmed the place up for us while we were gone. You shouldn't have. No, really, you shouldn't have.)

I think Communist funerals might be even weirder than the regular kind )

your description of the weekend, and of ruthie and wally, had me choked up and grinning at the same time. i imagine the weekend must have felt like that too.

"Sharing" makes it sound so polite. Thank you guys for putting up with all the rambling; hugs back.

I always love hearing about the Ellinger family; you're such a unique and awesome clan, even in times of tragedy. I second Gaby, thank you for letting us share.

Here's thinking of you!

I don't know about "unique" and "awesome"; I might accept "bizarre" and "talkative". Thanks for listening.

And I heard I missed a call from you; how many weddings did you have to go to last weekend, exactly?

Word nazi!

Yeah, your fantastic husband was called upon to deal with my drunken angst somewhere well into wedding #2 -- which oddly enough wasn't about matrimony, but about people teasing me for being too macho and rough-housey (approximately 47 minutes later, while swingdancing with Sam, I managed to combine several veins of mockery by slipping on spilled ice, bashing my knee on the floor, and then bouncing right back up again. At that point I just gave up). Thom did quite a terrific job in the comforting department. I love talking with you of course, but it's always fun to catch him on the phone too. Good man you got there.

Wow, your family kicks my family's butt. And probably would, given half the chance.

Um, what I mean is, thanks for writing that. I'm glad things were supportive if still hard. You can't do much about the latter, but it takes good people to pull off the former.

Under what circumstances are we imagining that my family would beat up your family? Is there a Socialist song competition I don't know about?

(Or is that Eurovision?)
