September is usually one of my least complicated months of the year, and yet I think I have logged in to LJ like twice in the past two weeks. This does not bode well for ... you know, anything at all in my near future

I never watched that show, but I had a similar reaction when I recently did a re-watch of "Lois & Clark". This show is from the Nineties and yet it feels so old. Especially the computers - all those huge monitors, instead of flat screens.
But nothing beats "MacGyver" from the Eighties for ridiculous huge cell phones LOL

Hahaha! Good point. Though when I watch shows from the 80s it's like I expect them to feel old, but when it's one from the 90s/early 2000s it still just catches me by surprise! I'm older than I think.
Even Stargate feels already old. I am doing a re-watch of the early seasons at the moment and I don't know - somehow it looks like so long ago! But that was probably just my reaction to Daniel and his old hair LOL How easily you forget such things. No wonder I always was focussed on Jack and never even noticed Daniel ;)
Stupid life, interfering with my fannish fun. Actually I ended up taking an unintentional across-the-board social media break which is not altogether a bad thing. LJ I miss, though. :)
There are just so many shows that I've watched recently from back in the day, but not all that long ago, where 5 minutes into the plot I'm like "If everyone had a cell phone this entire thing would be over right now." Or pagers. Or whatever. You get my point.
But yes! Love West Wing forever and always. And I still can't believe that they considered having the president never appear in it, or only occasionally, like in that last scene in the pilot and have it only be a show about the staffers. That would never have worked as well!
Also, speaking of Sorkin, I'll say it again: GO GET THE NEWSROOM DVD STAT!
Oh, man. I do remember those pagers! I really wanted one... for about three days. :-)
Getting a new TV was great, but it has led to all kinds of new expenses, because once you have an HD TV, your picture stops looking "fine" and you start going, "Hmm... there's a lot of fuzziness, isn't there? Maybe I should get a new cable/antenna/cable subscription." On the other hand, even just DVDs look REALLY COOL.
But yes, I've noticed that technology really dates a show. And I'm still wondering where everyone used to PUT those giant monitors on their desks. I don't have enough room for one, I'm sure!

Hahaha! See, I secretly suspected this.
And I'm still wondering where everyone used to PUT those giant monitors on their desks.
Right? Actually I remember when I finally got to switch to a flat screen monitor at work and it was like oh yay SO MUCH DESK REAL ESTATE. Let me immediately make more clutter to fill you up. *g*

I was reading some older short stories recently and had this exact thought. A tried and true plot device gone by the wayside, lol.

I know, I know. But I would have to actually pay attention to that so it has to wait a bit!
That icon always makes me laugh.
