Other stuff

While my head is in a state at the moment as I try to get things figured out with work, I do also need to ask some quick advice about phones.

This week, T-Mobile has finally seen fit to allow me to upgrade my phone, and I have some birthday money to spend. Not a lot, but still.

It's come at a handy time, since my beloved Sony Ericsson W850i has ( Read more... )

I had a Samsung once - it went back to the shop within the 14 day "if you aren't satisfied" clause. Very badly behaved bluetooth support and obvious bugs in the firmware. My current Nokia N95 is crap, not getting another one of theirs. Never had an LG.

LG are well known for having shite software.
G2 is OK, and if you upgrade to one they will change you PP to include the web n walk (should be free for getting a googlephone)
Samsung - i would never ever use any Samsung phone ever.
Nokia 5800 - Ok so long as you do the firmware updates from Nokia ASAP.
Sony Ericsson - all models okay so long as you keep upto date with firmware updates as the last 3-4 releases have all been sent out with known software bugs. You can find these easily on the S/E website tho.
I am still a huge fan of the G1, i still love my phone, and we've had a number of teething problems with the G2 but they seem to have sorted themselves out now to some degree.

I've been reading up more on the G2, and it seems to go along the lines of "it runs slow if you fill it up with pointless shit, so the moral of the story is... don't fill it up with pointless shit".

Checking out the options, it looks like I'll need to add £5 a month onto my budget for WnW, but I think I can do that. Hell, I usually spend about £2-£3 a month on web charges through the phone anyway, so it's more like £2-3 a month I'd need to scrimp.

I think that while the SE options would be nice, and I'd be happy with them, the G2 might allow me to do more with my phone without sacrificing a great deal - though a better camera would have been nice.

you shouldn't need to pay for web n walk. You would need web n walk plus for the G2 anyway, but if thats what your getting then you should request the 'Web n Walk plus free commitment service'
That will cost you nothing.

Thanks, Sam.

I may have to call customer services, cos I'm getting mixed messages from the website. First it was saying I'd need a Mobile Broadband Plus upgrade at £4.25 per month, and now it's saying I'll actually need a Mobile Plus Broadband "Booster" at an extra £10.64 a month...
