I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. This was a wonderful tribute and explanation of your relationship. It is very true that becoming a parent helps us understand our parents better.
I'm so sorry about your mom's passing, and the heartbreak for you and your family.
It hurt to read this, because I couldn't help thinking that she should have tried harder to show affection, and it really wasn't fair that you were treated so differently from your brother. I think you've hit on the reasons why, in addition to her being so young when it all started that she might never have examined her behavior. But it was still terribly unfair, and I'm sorry.
This was a bitter truth, and a difficult ending, but within even the worst of it was an underlying caring, even if it meant anger, that meant an emotional attachment. You would never get as upset with a total stranger.
And you have all of the good memories to keep forever.
Thank you for such lovely words. The true ones always hurt but they make it more real. And yes, through all of it no matter what we both still loved each other so very much

I think she tried where she could, but there was too much of me in her, but yes unfair. I wish we could have had more time to work that out
