so me and mark are heading out to battle creek (yes, the place where the cereal lives) to spend turkey day with his family. and to boycott the fact that we killed innocent people for this holiday i will not be eating turkey. Why? because im tired of listening to lies about what this day is about. Its not about peace and unity its about murder ( Read more... )

We're gonna have to discuss taht one some time sis.

Cause.. the ironic thing is. The indians who got screwed over were not rich, yet they were willing to share what little they had with the pilgrims that surely would have died without thier help. They were the ones acting more like Jesus. The pilgrims were thankful to God that he sent such welcoming friends.

Then the crap happened. Conqustiadors, Jesuits, pox filled blankets and you know the rest of the evil that ensued. Nevertheless.. there was still that one time long ago when a group of strangers and pilgrims would have died, cold and hungry without the help of the natives. Because God provided for them through the Indians.

And Lord, don't let Bear and Holly die in the snow. Amen.

i just get really bitter about lieing to kids. cause i was seriously upset when i found out about santa. And the whole thanksgiving thing branches off from that, i get violently angry at the disney potrayal of pocahontic. kidnapping and rape dosnt sound like a happy ending to me. Expecially because its reality distorted. If the characters had been names tom jones and princess running river i would have been cool with it. but the fact that they use the real characters names and then lie about it make me want to hit things. And then there are the idiots who dont ever look past the storys or the nice pictures of hugging indians and pilgrams and spend their lives not knowing the truth. Of course, they are probibly not angry about thanksgiving so maybe they have the leg up. (note to self: look in to denial ( ... )

Oh yeah, speaking of, there is a new movie coming out portraying just that. It's the story of Pochahontis and all that but it doesn't seem to gloss over anything. John Smith as the story goes wsan't the bad guy, he was one of the few guys that realised how evil his countrymen were being.. nevertheless, history will alway remember how evil our ancestors were. And rightly so.

I was going to say something similar to what Ryan did, but now I see he already did so let me just add a little: Thanksgiving celebrates the Indians saving our tail, not us killing them all off. So its actually supporting your view. The people at the first Thanksgiving would totaly agree with you, they wouldnt have wanted anything bad to happen to those that helped them. It was the greedy bastards that came later.

BTW, I didnt realize that you were on here...
