Longshot Playtest Report

Sep 22, 2010 14:09

On Saturday, we got a chance to playtest my Game Chef game from this year, Longshot. It actually went surprisingly well. The game was a lot of fun, and the playtest showed me the places the game needs some fixing. So the game fulfilled both purposes of a playtest.

Scifi Western and lots of dice mechanics )

In my case; one of each. I framed a scene in which I did fairly little so that it could get along to the next couple of people who had fights brewing.

One of those, however, I was just lost on what to do -- I do think the character sheet had enough for me to go after, I just couldn't pick one, though. So -- pretty sure it was just me on that one, but it's possible the character, on a whole, didn't seem to jump out narratively. *shrug*

For purposes of completeness, I chose the Greedy personality because I generally don't play characters with many worldly motivations, and I thought that someone greedy in a game fundamentally based on limited resources would be really interesting and fun; you might have noticed I deliberately dipped into the common pool even when I didn't strictly need to, and as a result finished the game with a fairly good pile of dice in front of me. Making him the deputy seemed like an obvious fit.
