Perhaps he does not like the type of litter?

That's a good point. My cats will only use one brand of litter no matter what. We learned the hard way. If that's not the case then you should maybe see your vet. After months of working at the animal hospital I know that is not normal and there could be an underlying problem. Does he pee in the litter box?

But i get him the scoopable kind so that the smell does not linger..... high maintenance kitty. i just took him to the vet on monday and all of this blood work came back normal. the vet recommended moving his litter box. now it is in the living room and,so far, he has not gone on the carpet! maybe he just did not like my choice of location.

perhaps. but i'm hoping it was box location and not litter type as i can't spend a billion dollars trying every kind of litter under the sun until he decides on a winner.
