One of these days, I most definitely need to make it out there. I always hear nothing but good things.

For sure. I only made it out the once (it is a mite awkward to get to), but it's a lively con full of great people.

Sounds brilliant! I keep thinking I should start going to cons.

Also thanks for explaining that Black Friday thing. I kept being sent emails about it as though I should have the faintest idea what it is (chief culprit being Amazon.co.uk). The theory was that it was something to do with an anniversary of a stock market crash, though it seemed an odd thing to commemorate.

Which is weird, because the 1929 stock market crash was in October.

Well, this theory was developed using no research whatsoever.
I think it's because most days that are prefixed with 'Black' tend to commemorate something bad. But as people were trying to sell stuff we thought it was something economic in nature.
My husband thought it might be to do with a more recent stock market crash or possibly the recession, but that could've been because it's a phrase we'd never heard until recently.

It was great to see you once again! I wish it wasn't just once a year. And I apologize for completely breaking your brain with Tony bear ;) (we just couldn't resist...)

Capone's grave is great isn't it? Too bad I wasn't with you - I would have shown you some more of the sights over at Mount Carmel like the Italian Bride, Julia Buccola, the Bishop's monument, and some of my family (yes part of my family is buried there, the rest are across the street at Queen of Heaven). I think it's really interesting how low key Capone's grave is, but it was out of necessity.

Sadly, I have a Friday class so I will not be able to make it to Gally this year but I've already decided that Gally 2012 WILL happen, for me and hopefully my boyfriend as well, and it'll be my OMG I have my Master's degree party! ;)

Tony, I know you don't know me from any other fan, but it was fantastic to see you again at Chicago TARDIS. You always make the weekend much more fun!

I remember you commented at the con about wanting snow for the con. The con was a week early for that... I thought of you as I shoveled my driveway this morning.

Al Capone's grave! Awesome.
