I've been reading the Amelia Peabody books, and I'm now up to The Ape Who Guards the Balance.
- Amelia is such an entertaining character. I picture her as what Violet from Downton Abbey would have been like in her younger days. :D
- I'm having trouble fan-casting Amelia and Emerson. I've seen on message boards that people like to cast Rick and Evie from the Mummy. That's not really how I picture them, though. Amelia is described as having dark course hair and an olive complexion. (She's forever envying fairer Brit complexions.) She has grey eyes and she's on the tall side. Emerson has black hair and blue eyes and is always described with "brown hands." Although this apparently is from being tan since once when he wore shorts, Amelia was laughing at his white knees. He's tall and built like an ox. XD No Brit actors really spring to mind for them. And Ramses is always described as passing for an Egyptian youth, so definitely not the kid from The Mummy.
- I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Next Generation is equally as entertaining, maybe even more so. In The Ape I'm more interested in what Ramses and Nefret are up to than what Amelia is up to. Well done, author.
- The fact that Ramses will soon implode from UST is cracking me the hell up. He was such a little shit when he was younger, and it's hilarious that he's not in control now.
