  • Sleepy Hollow: I have a problem. So far I LOVE Abbie. She is one of those rare 3D characters that appear once in a blue moon. The other characters are also pretty darn good. (Well...lol John Cho. What are your acting choices?) But the plot is just so so so incredibly silly. Last night when I was watching 1x02 I was playing on my computer ( Read more... )

Sleepy Hollow is so campy though.

SO campy. I'm not quite sure it knows what kind of show it is yet.

But... you watched Doctor Who? :-D I'm basically taking the silliness of this show the way I take the boringness of the Elementary "mystery" plots: I'm there for the characters. If the storyline happens to become interesting, yay, but otherwise I'm way more interested in the characters' relationships than anything else.

I've been interested in Brooklyn Nine-Nine because of Andre Braugher and other things, but I haven't really watched a sitcom in years because my embarrassment squick is continually set off. What kind of humor does this show have?

With OUAT, I'm hoping the focus on Hook is just a promo thing because they know people find his actor hot. I'm really, really hoping. *crosses fingers* I'm not sure too much Hook will absolutely kick me out, but what will definitely kick me out is if there's an actual romance for him. With anyone. Especially (but not limited to) if it's prior to him abjectly begging for forgiveness.

Quiet, you! XD I guess maybe I wasn't expecting so much fantasy? WHICH, I KNOW. HEADLESS HORSEMAN. XD

It's sort of a cross between the Office and Barney Miller. (If you've ever watched reruns of that show.) I really don't remember embarrassment humor. The painful situation-type, that is. Or if there was, it was low enough not to register. I think you'd be safe trying out the first ep.

I will admit that SH was more... over the top than I was expecting. I really wasn't expecting the whole Death on a Pale Horse/Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse/The End is Nigh thing it's got going on. Although I am amused that they explicitly gave themselves at least seven years in the pilot. But I have stuck with shows like Supernatural for years which include many of the same sorts of ridiculousness, so it doesn't bother me that much.

I actually vaguely remember Barney Miller from when I was a child, although I can't remember whether it was the actual show or reruns. I think I'll give it a shot.

It would have been lovely if he could have been killed off with a resolution with Rumpel.

So many people have tried to kill him; surely one of them should have succeeded by now???

I was kind of wondering if this is what Supernatural fans feel like - you love the characters and try not to pay too much attention to the plot. XD

You'd think. XD

I think I'll stand clear of Sleepy Hollow for a bit. I've heard good things about Abbie and ... well that seems to be it. I don't think I can deal with another supernatural police procedural.

I'm sort of wary of what they're going to do with the plot. I mean, in spite of the whole "THIS QUEST WILL TAKE US 7 YEARS" I don't see how they can maintain that story for that long.

Speaking of that, I've seen promos for Brooklyn Nine-Nine but I'm tired of serial police procedural that Hollywood churns out. Even those that spoof the police procedural. Though, on your rec I might give it a shot.

I was entertained. :)

I'm trying to watch DA but I don't know if it's my connection or the sites I use but the download streaming is taking forever. I'm only watching DA because it's my soap opera. Also, you kinda need to see the Christmas ep to know what s4 is going to be about (it's not that you can't guess though).

Maybe I will wait, because I can't really be bothered with it at the moment.

Oh Once, I missed the majority of last season and I ( ... )

LOL. Yeah, sounds like I can wait and marathon it all later.

Oh I know. I just think it's going to be so terrible that I'd rather be spoiled then make a judgement call (i.e. create my own 50th anniversary from the gifs that will pop up on Tumblr).

It's not like we'll have to wait long. XD

I'm in the middle of a Star Trek TNG marathon. LOL this show. I'm not sure why anyone would bother with dangerous space travel when they have holodecks. Another thing - what do people do on the Bridge for the 99% of the time that they're not in battle or docking somewhere? I mean, a person on the Conn gets to push a button every 3 hours or so, so that's something to do. But what do the people in the Executive Chairs do? Do they have heart-to-hearts? Play word games? Gossip? I'm sad for them - their chairs aren't even recliners and I don't think they have cupholders.Maybe this is a small thing I that makes me prefer DS9, they seem to actually have jobs most days, they do just kind of hang out and chat, and they have places to set drinks. No wonder Picard prefers to hang out in his ready room unless he's needed on the bridge, he can have his tea, earl grey, hot and play with his laptop from his comfy chair., or at least where he can slouch better away from the crew ( ... )

DS9's place for drinks is far superior to TNG. XD Must be nice being the Captain and you can go chill somewhere while on duty. Meanwhile the minions have to stare at the space screensaver for hours.

And I'd say give those new shows a try if you're looking for something to do. Just be prepared for an ultra silly plot with Sleepy Hollow. :D

Sleepy Hollow is ridiculously silly, but I've always been a character girl, and I love them all (Ichabod's Hair especially).

Hook I can deal with as long as his character 1) doesn't have a love interest before his redemption arc and 2) has a redemption arc in which he apologizes profusely.

OMG Ichabod's hair! XD Yes, that really is its own character. It's a wonder it doesn't look cleaner after he's had a shower. Maybe he doesn't know how to use shampoo and conditioner. XD

BUT HE'S A WOOBIE. HE DOESN'T NEED A REDEMPTION ARC BECAUSE HE'S JUST MISUNDERSTOOD. STOP CALLING HIM A DOUCHE. Oh wait, I'm the one calling him a douche.

It looks *clean* just not... styled. Or volumized. :-)

Hook *is* a douche. He's a pretty, pretty, smarmy douche. Who can't be trusted.
