Good grief, it's been too long since I posted. Everything is too bright and shiny over at tumblr, however there are downsides:
  • No different icons.  WOE.
  • No moods.  WOE.
  • No ability to have group conversations.  WOE.
  • People believing whatever shit that gets posted.  Urban Legend?  TRUE!  Anything about Doctor Who?  TRUE!  And so on.  (There's one post ( Read more... )

Yeah, I like Tumblr, but it has many downsides, including the ones you mention (I miss easy commenting so much!). Also the inability to lock posts to only a certain group.

And OMG, is that what that post is? I kept seeing people mentioning it but never followed it back to the origin. OMG.

LOL that post. It's just so horribly wrong about everything, but yet it's a runaway train.

I think the made up post got that many notes after this iconic response: http://oodlyenough.tumblr.com/post/103830423308/natasharomanoffisbetterthanyou-i-love

But it seems like when I click on reblogs, they don't have the Kali gif of sarcasm. It makes me sad.

It's just HOW CAN PEOPLE THINK THAT???? Of course tumblr also believes that much of the PotC movies were ad libbed, and that Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are fighting because Cumberdude didn't appear on SNL with him. AND THEN THERE'S THE HOOK LOVE. And then some dude I was following made a comment today about how being a feminist means being oppressive to men, so I commented to him the wiki definition of feminism and unfollowed. WHY ARE YOU ALL SO YOUNG AND HAVE NOT FULLY ENGAGED THE BRAIN?

(Ok, the Hook one is a personal preference and not an intelligence thing, WHICH IS A GREAT ALLOWANCE ON MY PART AND SUPER HARD TO ADMIT. Goddamn.)

:D Seriously, though. Your rage about Hook makes my life. Mostly because it reminds me that other people find his character objectionable as hell and I don't feel so alone.

Also, I blame a lot of people's inability to research on the fact that school libraries and the librarians who TEACH THEM HOW TO DO THAT have been cut to the bone, if not removed entirely. Like, there's an actual study about that. (Not as applies to Tumblr, but academics in general. It's here.)

Don't get me wrong, I've reblogged a wrong post or five (usually when I'm on mobile and it's impossible for me to easily look anything up without losing my place), but eeeeeeeesh.

(You totally deserve a cookie for the last bit. Hook is such a toolbox, and the writers are worse because they think it's fine.)

Bahahaha, every single time I see Hook love on my dash I think "rrrRRR!" on your behalf. No matter that I haven't bothered to watch OUAT in over a whole season. :D

See? This is why I've pretty much stuck to LJ. Tumblr is sort of like the Wild West crossed with high school crossed with a drug experiment.
