The way you combat ignorant gits is with knowlege. And making sure your son knows he can come to you.

So one of the guys in the class noticed that I always seemed to be doing extra reading on the topics covered, and caught the hint of twang in my voice, and decided that I'd make a great new member...
Afterwards, he avoided me a lot.

I am sure that your son will grow up just fine. I have faith in you, and in Ray too, that you'll be able to teach him what is best. By contrast, he'll have his father's views, and he will be able to see both alternatives, and hopefully make the smart choices.

I think your son is brighter than that to fall into something of that nature. All you can do is your best with him and give him positive examples of treating people well no matter who they are.

I know what you are worried about, though. There are hate groups out there like that, with more than one member. They listen to "music" like Prussian Blue. I don't know that they would attract Son, though. They see themselves as powerless to affect our PC tolerant world, and that's why they rant so loudly and with so much hate. Son sees himself as anything but powerless.
