Ratatouille - Two Thumbs Up

I went to see the movie "Ratatouille" tonight, and loved it so much that I shall now proceed to gush about it to anyone who cares to read. The last movie I went and saw in a theatre that I loved as much was King Kong (not at all similar, except in that both were brilliant in their own ways and both made me cry).

"Ratatouille" is a Pixar animated ( Read more... )

I went Saturday and took both my kids and we all loved it! Very cute. Some of the storyline seemed to be targeted towards a more mature audience and I loved the message it sent of fulfilling dreams. It is one of my favorite pixar movies now, right alongside Finding Nemo and Toy Story.

Your going down!

Aww seriously I loved that movie. Do you at least like Toy Story? Cars was another cute one and Monsters Inc.

I'll admit, Finding Nemo isn't one of my favorite Pixa films ever, but it has a soft spot in my heart from my literature class in high school where we watched it, ate pizza, and compared it to the Hero's Journey. Good times.

I've never seen Cars. *hides*
My brother's friend said he found the main character annoying, though.

Hm. Ratatouille never made much of an impression on me when I saw the previews, but it sounds like it's worth a watch. I think I'll drag my dad to it, since he's been teaching me how to cook. >:3

If your dad likes to cook, I bet he might enjoy it too. It seemed to me that the creative minds behind the project have considerable familiarity with gourmet cooking. I'm no chef, but I own a recipe book by a French chef, like to watch cooking shows, and enjoy making fancy dishes for company, and I felt that they got stuff right. It's one of the ways the movie has some adult appeal.

Yeah defintiely. I love to cook too but I am afraid to try and true french recipes. I am sure there are tons of ingredients. Although I have whipped up some fancy dishes before,so I may try it eventually. :)

You should! I took French in high school and we did cooking-related French activities a few times. I had to make Quiche Lorraine and Mousse au Chocolat (on separate occasions) to bring in to class. Quiche was quite reasonable if pie crust does not scare you. The mousse I followed a recipe I got from a library book by Julia Child, and I swear it took me like 4 hours to make! (Though it was very tasty).

Edith Piaf, naturellement. It's that Parisian mood I was going after. The movie is set in Paris, and includes lovely scenery of the iconic sights of that city - the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, tour boats on the Seine, etc.

Thanks, I thought maybe that would be the case. Grace did it so well, however ...

My youngest son loves to cook - he's eleven - and we watch Top Chef on Bravo every week, along with my daughter. So the three of us would probably enjoy going together - thanks for the recommendation!
