You are getting veeeery sleepy.....

It seems to be siesta time in our house a lot lately. I walk through my house and see sleeping bodies everywhere.

On my bed

On the chair in my room

On tygrr's bed

They are even doing it in pairs (although you can almost not see Ra'zac as he blends in with my leopard print fur)

And groups!

Talk about busy lives.. NOT!

And yes, for your information, that was Little Flower sleeping on tygrr's bed. She is the Queen on loan from the breeder that we are keeping until she has kittens.

Here's one of her awake!

Well, besides lots of time spent snuggling with cute sleeping kittens things have been happening as is the way of life, and also as is the way of life, some has been good and some not so good.

As most of you know, tygrr has recently been granted her permanant immigration. Also as most of you know, she was recently stood down from her job as the factory had no work (temporarily). The letter that told her she had Permanant Residency status also told her she was exempt from the usual two year waiting period for government assistance in times of unemployment. That certainly would help at times like this as without tygrr working the only income into the house is my disability pension, which is not huge.

So, to cut a long story short, when we began the process of applying for unemployment relief we were reminded of a document she (and a family friend of ours) signed at the time of her Temporary Residency application called an Assurance of Support. This document was designed to guarantee that tygrr did not use any government funding during the time of her Temporary Residency, and if she did, then the person who had signed as her assurer (our family friend), would have to repay back what she was paid by the government, to the government. Once on Permanant Residency Visa she 'should' be eligible for financial help from the government should she need it.

The snag is, the Assurance of Support is a legal contract for a set term of two years as usually one is on Temporary Residency for two years. No exemptions apply to this legal contract. The contract runs for two years from the time she was granted her Temporary Residency, which was 5 May 2005. Yes, you guessed it. Tygrr is unable to be paid any unemployment relief until after 5 May 2007. If she were, then our family friend would have to repay the money back to the government as per the Assurance of Support. And no, the fact her Permanant Residency has been granted does not affect it. A contract is a contract.

So, that sux.

In other news though, we have heard from the employment firm who controls her employment at the Electrical Componants factory. They rang yesterday wanting to know if she was still interested in resuming work there and if so which shift. They said they stil did not have a start date, but things were 'picking up', so keep fingers crossed. Hopefully shortly it won't matter if tygrr is eligible for unemployment relief or not.

Another reason I have not been writing in my diary that often lately is that I have actually been writing elsewhere. Not quite writing further on the story, but building on the plot outline with some ideas I came up with during the holidays. These ideas were good ideas but also entailed a LOT of research happening to make sure they would work. They are in a completely different part of the story to where I was writing last, but it's as though my brain has to know it will all flow smoothly before I can keep telling the tale.

So, I have spent the last few days between researching my butt off, and spending time staring into space cooking up further plot points. There has been a lot of, 'What if....' and 'If they do that, then what about...' thoughts going through my head, ending up written on m page and then answers have to be found. The really neat thing is that answers ARE being found! Inspiration is springing forth at the moment.

I was exhausted by early yesterday evening after a few late nights being driven by my muse and went to bed early, only to have grubblet phone just as I put off the light. I laid in bed in the dark and talked to her for a while and then hung up intending to go to sleep. The problem was, my mind had been stirred by the call, and where it had been willing to follow my weary body to sleep ten minutes earlier, now it began to think idly on some of the points I stil had to work on. Next thing I knew I was up, out of bed and back at the pc again, writing down all the solutions that had come to mind while I lay there trying to sleep. Three hours later I was finally able to crawl back into bed again and collapse exhausted into sleep.

Having done that though, I seem to have satiated the muse for a little while, as I am still feeling relaxed and sleepy today rather than utterly driven by inspiration as I have over the last few days. Don't worry, the story is still there bubbling away. This is the pattern it often follows where my mind conjurs up some ideas which are researched and accepted into the story; it then goes quiet while it examines the story from all angles with these new ideas added - this is the time is generally lets me get some sleep; then next it is either demanding I write more of the story down, or spewing out more ideas that the new plot points have inspired which need researching and elaborating on - these are the times when I am driven like a demon!

So, today, seeing as my muse is sleeping or pondering, I think I might take advantage of the situation and follow my cats' example. Time for a nap I think!

I am getting sleepy... veeeeery sleepy....
