Our kitten salvage project is progressing nicely.
Masked Lady has now graduated from living in the bathroom to having free reign of the house and sleeping in my room on my bed at night. With the bathroom now free, and R having returned from his journeyings it was decided that I could begin salvage on another kitten.
This one is a six months old lilac point female whom R thinks should settle pretty quickly. I wandered ou to R's place friday night for dinner and to collect her and while she may settle quickly, she initially was NOT happy about being confined in a cat carry case and was NOT happy about being confined in my bathroom, going through it rather like a whirling dervish! Fortunately all breakables had been stored away when Masked Lady came to us, so other than scattering things everywhere she has done no real harm.
Already though she has let me hold her and stroke her and has accepted some steak from me. I suspect R is right and she shall only take a week or two before she is ready to go to a new home. In the meantime, Masked Lady was NOT happy that I was out all evening friday evening and made this clear to me when I came home. She really is developing into an incredibly loving cat. It is such a pleasure to see the results of my work with them.
This was Masked Lady when she first came to us on 6 June.
Clearly a tense and fearful cat.
And now..
Very relaxed and at home on my bed..and looking somewhat smug...:)
This is the new salvage project - as yet unnamed.
A very tense and scared little kitten
But, it won't take long before she's just as relaxed as the regular residents - Biscuit, Zeus and Little Flower with an opportunistic Boots in the middle.
These three supervise my meals. If they sit politely and do not push forward they get a little morsel at the end. As you can see, they are all well behaved gentlemen!
And then there is this handsome devil, Flint, one of tygrr's favourites
And Floyd, my original odd-eyed white boy looking very much king of the castle.
And a rare pic of Raven, my black and white girl (yes, she has white on her chest, although it doesn't show in the pic).
She's a shy cat and is gradually coming out of her shell. She's found her niche in our home at last and is thriving.
It never ceases to amaze me how calming and soothing it is to have a cat around - and all the more so with several. There is always a loving, friendly face around or a warm furry body eager to be close to you. Even queens in season or yowling teenaged tomcats can be forgiven their ruckus - it's a small price to pay for the smile they can bring to the gloomiest day.
