As planned, today was moving day.
Troll and I didn't get around to packing up the dvds and books from the lounge yesterday but we had plenty of time this morning as my bed drained. Then it was time for the sofas, bookcases, tv unit and its contents to all be moved elsewhere in house so that room could be cleaned.
Empty bed, ready for dismantling
The sofas would not fit through the kitchen doorway, so they had to be stacked in the hallway - much to troll's delight. She turned them into a 'fort'.
She stood some cardboard up behind her and used the sofas for the walls and voila, instant fort. She looked pretty pleased with it!
Meanwhile, the bed was being stacked in my new room
We had to move the lounge contents into the kitchen and hallway, clean it, then dismantle my bed and stack the pieces in my new room, then unpack my wardrobe as it is solid oak and big AND heavy, so it had to be put in place before my bed was put up.
And this is how it looked with the curtains up, and bed reassembled - the dark cushions are actually dark green, not black like they show in the photo

The wardrobe from hell looking nice and schmick after a fresh polish
I love the vibrant jewel colours that I've managed to put in there. The curtains are the new pink ones I bought for the lounge recently with a green embossed velvet drape across the top. The theme colours of my room are pink, green and tangerine. The finished result is quite decadent but not as quite as glaring as the camera flash makes it appear. That room is quite a dark room usually, so it needed the bright colours to lift it. The fact that when I walk in there I smile says a lot for how right I got the look for me.
And it's all so terribly clean! Just how I like my space to be. I have yet to move my big oak cheval mirror in where it will stand at the bottom of the bed, and we have yet to hang the red lady print on the wall at the foot of my bed, but other than that it is all done.
Which is more than I can say for the rest of the house...lol
One sofa is sitting in what is now the lounge room, but the carpet needs a good cleaning before any more furniture comes in and the cheval mirror has to be moved before the tv unit can come in, so one sofa, a bookcase and two small bookcases we use for dvds are all still in the hallway. The tv unit is still in the middle of the kitchen, all of course all the bags of books and dvds are still all over the diningroom floor and the decorative stuff from the bookcases and shelves is still all over the top of the dining room table.
However, I managed to cook us a lovely t-bone with prawns (shrimp, for the americans here) in creamy garlic sauce with salad on the side for dinner tonight despite all the mayhem, so if I can do that then there is no rush to do much more tonight. The house is functional, if not all that tidy. We all have beds to sleep in - although I hope mine shall be warm enough by the time I crawl into it. Waterbeds are notorious for taking a while to warm up, but I did cheat and added some hot water when we were filling it, so that shall move things along a little.
I am just pondering if I left myself enough hot water to have a bath tonight before bed. Tygrr has already retired for the night four hours later than her usual bedtime, thoroughly exhausted. I'm afraid I worked her mercilessly today. Actually I worked us all mercilessly. Even troll pitched in and surprised me with just what she could do to help. That girl is growing up so fast lately! Now though the thought of getting clean and crawling into a nice clean bed is definitely appealling, so I might end this here for now.
