Finally my new loungeroom is done! It has taken longer than expected but then no one's going to shoot me for that.
So, this is the result of about ten days worth of intermittant work:
What used to be the lounge room
Became this - my bedroom
But before that could happen, this.....
became this....
with a little help from Nacho as we took the ceiling drapes down....
And now... is this...(view to the left)
and this... (view to the right)
and this.. (view towards hallway)
(Notice the new vinyl in the hallway too!)
So there you have it, two rooms transfered and god, shoot me if I ever get such a bright idea again!
However, I LOVE my new room and I don't mind the new lounge at all. The cats LOVE the new lounge and while it felt a little strange for a while, it actually works well and I like how I've managed to introduce the earthy tones, especially the green. The cost? Under $100 for new curtains for the lounge and three new small bookcases.
It's not swank, but it's homey and comfortable which is more important to me - and, easy to care for. While the lounge used to become rather a mess as troll would leave stuff in there and I rarely saw it as I rarely went in there, now I see it and am playing the clean nazi to train her to pick up after herself. It's nice to come out to a clean and tidy lounge first thing in the morning.
I also REALLY like how the sofa near my desk hides all the clutter and computer cables under it. It gives me quite a nice little work nook too. And Masked Lady really likes having the sofa so close as she often sits on the back of it and keeps me company while I work.
Now, tasks remaining:
1. Lay the last small bit of vinyl near the laundry door - I need the boxcutters for that and I have to ask tygrr where they are.
2. Wash the kitchen floor
3. Tidy up the dining room which has been used as a general dumping ground during all the moving
4. Give my bathroom a spring clean
5. Wash all the washing I haven't done while moving rooms
6. Clean off the back verandah ready for summer
7. Weed the front and back gardens
8. Wash Lola
And then, no more domesticity until after Nano!
I am going to a Plotting, Planning and Preparation for Nanowrimo getogether this weekend on Sunday and I confess I really want to have all my domestic stuff done before then so the inspiration I shall undoubtedly come away from that meeting with can wash me along into writer's paradise and I can forget all about my other responsiblities for a month.
I shall be pushing it though, I suspect, as I have promised a girlfriend in the city to go down tomorrow and help her get ready to move house! Oh well, nothing like a challenge!
