What a Weekend!

The title just about sums it up really. What a weekend!

Yesterday was spent either sleeping, relaxing with troll or doing research for my Nano book. Yes, most of the research was already done but now and then one thinks of something that needs checking.

I was doing just that sort of checking when I stumbled across a site that listed some ancestors of mine. Curious I begin surfing the site. Besides discovering one of the most comprehensive sites online about that branch of our family tree I made a rather amazing discovery.

Listed on the site are two half-sisters of mine who have, as yet, never been able to be traced by any of us. When I say, any of us, I mean myself or any of my other half-brothers or sisters (dad had 12 kids all up). We had been told that one of the girls had been raised 'somewhere in tasmania' by another family member, while the second one had been adopted out at birth.

For this site to have them listed gave me hope they may know where they are. I emailed the site author and recieved a reply offering to help in any way possible. I replied and asked if he know how to get in touch with either of the two girls and am as yet waiting for his reply.

In the meantime, it is an exciting step forward that they are even listed. To hope I may procure contact details would be just too much but I am keeping fingers crossed, nonetheless.

Because of the distraction of this discovery I only got about 1000 words written yesterday.

However, today has been a different story. After sleeping in a little, we were off to Troll's school's Gala Day. It has been raining all weekend and the school grounds were pretty damp. Unfortunately as we were going down a slope to the oval I slipped on the muddy ground and fell. Fortunately I had been sort of expecting it and just relaxed and let myself go down instead of wrenching myself in all directions to prevent the fall. After getting up, dusting self off as best I could we proceeded... and I slipped and fell again!

Well, fortunately I was wearing my long patchwork velvet coat and each time I fell it fluffed up into the air and didn't land under me, so the now somewhat muddy seat of trousers was hidden by the long coat so I could continue browsing around at the fair without being too embarassed.

We bought three second hand books for the grand price of 20c each, some peppermint chocolate frogs for tygrr and one pretty beaded hanging thingy (which one hangs in a window) for $1. Other than that we enjoyed looking around, had a lovely lunch of sausage sizzle and baked potato and a cup of coffee and chocolate brownies later.

By the time 3pm came around I was feeling very chilled from my wet muddy pants and the aches from the two falls were beginning to set in, so I came home to have a hot bath, leaving troll to do her stint on her class stall selling soft drinks and tygrr to pick her up when she was done.

After my bath the 'aftershock' of falling twice seemed to set in, as well as all the pains from it, so after gobbling some painkillers I headed off to bed and slept for hours. It was really difficult to make myself get up, but I thought I best do so and make sure troll had tea at least.

I did feel much better for my sleep and most of the sore spots seem to have vanished. There is some residual soreness in both my ankles and a little in my back which was jarred (as you can well imagine when a Dragon comes crashing down!) as I fell.

Otherwise I felt marvellous. So, I fetched dinner for troll and I and, having written hardly anything all weekend, promptly sat down and wrote... and wrote... and wrote!

Now it is just after 5am and I have just over 27,000 words done!

I do have to take troll down to the city today to be weighed and measured at the endocrine clinic again, so I best get some sleep soon. I don't know when I shall get the time and energy to write again, maybe tonight, maybe not, but either way, I'm not too worried about it. I'm really thrilled with how my wordcount is progressing and really loving the story so I know it will happen as soon as I next have the slightest bit of energy and time!

Now though, bed beckons!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
